What is an 'Unposed' Family Session? Unposed sessions are shot as candidly as possible, resulting in images with a relaxed , genuine feel. During your session you will be instructed to interact with each other naturally, telling jokes, playing, and snuggling. Whether the location is a favourite beach, picnic spot, or your own home, the focus is less on everyone looking at the camera and smiling, and more about capturing the heart of your gorgeous family. Be aware:: Styling is very important in these sessions. You should expect to purchase at least a couple new wardrobe pieces in preparation for your shoot. I will be happy to provide you with styling help and advice so that everyone comes looking (and feeling!) their very best. |
If you are looking for a traditional photo session, where everyone is given explicit direction, perfectly posed, and smiling their hardest (fakest) smiles-- this is not the session for you.
But! If you believe that genuine smiles and true connection is infinitely more important than everyone looking at the camera at the same time, then send me an email today.
faq
How far in advance should we book?
It is always recommended that clients book at least 2-3 months in advance. Or more, if you have a specific date in mind.
What should we wear?
I'm a firm believer that a bit of effort in styling makes all the difference. As such, I am always happy to help clients with their wardrobe choices. I have some excellent Pinterest Boards that I can refer you do, as well as a Client Closet that you are welcome to borrow from at no additional charge. All you need to do it ask!
What if it rains?
Rain actually makes for beautiful, emotive images and is some of my favourite weather to shoot in. However, if the rain is truly terrible, or the temperature takes a very sudden and severe dip below zero, I would be happy to transfer your deposit and booking to a new date (subject to my availability) Please keep weather in mind when booking though! For example, if you can't stand the idea of a rainy-family-portrait session, then perhaps November-May is not the best time to book a session.
What does 'unposed' mean, anyway?
It means that we will have very little focus on arranging your family in stiff, traditional poses. Instead I will give you fun prompts to get you interacting and moving in a way that looks (and feels!) fun and natural. I capture the magic as it unfolds in an authentic way.
When can I expect to RECEIVE my photos?
You can expect to see a few 'sneak peeks' on social media within a few days. After that, I aim to have your gallery ready a few weeks after your session. If you are in a rush and need things done faster for whatever reason, don't hesitate to let me know! I'm always happy to do what I can.
WHAT IF WE FEEL AWKWARD?
I guarantee you that 9/10 clients that I work with initially describe themselves as "unphotogentic and awkward". However, they quickly learn that sessions with Wanderlust are dynamic and fun! I will help you with natural (un)posing directions that get you moving, laughing, and having a really, really great time. As long as you're able to relax just a bit, you'll soon forget all about how awkward and unphotogenic you think you are.
how many photos will i receive?
One hour sessions yield a minimum of 40-50+ edited, and beautiful images. I aim to over-deliver whenever possible.
Do you travel for shoots?
Heck yes! Sessions more than 40km from my home-base of Trail, BC are subject to travel fees.
