Holy Cannoli, I can’t believe how off track I have gotten with blogging. Suffice it to say, 2022 was one hell of a year. In many ways I feel like I am still finding my footing after it. If I am being realistic, I don’t think I could possibly get ‘caught up’ with blogging, but I do hope to share at least a handful of weddings and portrait sessions from 2022 before the 2023 wedding season starts with a bang in May!
On that note, I bring you Shaelyn and Bryan! These two got married on one hell of a hot day last July at Birchbank Picnic Grounds in Trail, BC. Birchbank is one of those venues that doesn’t look like much on the average day, but it cleans up *so* beautifully with some twinkle lights, florals, and maybe some drapery. It also comfortably accommodates events with 150-250 guests, making it a no brainer for those Kootenay wedding couples with enormous Italian &/or Russian families. Something I will never forget about Shaelyn and Bryan’s wedding is how important it was to Shaelyn to include both of her Dads in key moments. Shae is fortunate to have two amazing Fathers— her biological Dad and her Step-Dad— who have jointly played huge roles in her life. As much, Shae felt it was important to include them both in ‘Father of the Bride’ roles. We planned separate ‘First Looks’ with her and each of her Dads (and with Bryan, the Groom, too!) and she even had both of her Dads accompany her down the aisle to ‘give her away’. It was truly such a touching, and special moment!
