One of my favourite parts of being a Wedding Photographer is getting to shoot the weddings of my friends and family. Last Saturday's wedding in the shadows of Canmore, Alberta's dramatic Rocky Mountains was one such event.
I met Lindsay, the bride, quite a few years ago (I won't say exactly how many!) when she and I were both attending the University of Calgary. I ended up leaving school early and pursuing other endeavours, but she and I stayed in touch over the years, chatting here and there on Facebook and even seeing each other last year at the wedding of a mutual friend (which I also photographed!) When it came Lindsay's turn to get engaged, I was flattered when she asked me if I would come to Canmore to shoot her wedding. It is always so fun to be part of my friend's big days in this capacity and to lend my skills & passion in a way that feels lasting and meaningful. I truly have the best job! I had never met Lindsay's betrothed before, but the moment I met Ryann it became evident why Lindsay had agreed to marry him. Charismatic, quick to smile, and incredibly warm; Ryann made me feel like we had been friends for a decade within just 1 minute of meeting him in person. More than that, as the day went on and I got to see Lindsay and Ryann interact, it became clear that these two had really found their perfect match in the other. I am so happy for my long time college friend, and wish her and Ryann a life time of happiness together. |
