I've lived in the West Kootenays for nearly 6 years, and it wasn't until I met Paige and Todd that I had even heard of 'Sheep Creek'.
Sheep Creek, as I came to learn, is a little settlement located about an hour from Rossland, BC down a very old, very bumpy, very narrow mountain road. Nestled deep in a valley that only the locals seem to know about, Sheep Creek is absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly private. Which basically makes it the ideal location for a rustic mountain wedding. Paige's family has owned acreage in Sheep Creek for generations, and the location is the backdrop to some of Paige's fondest childhood memories. It was the perfect venue for this laid back, super fun couple to say 'I Do'. When we started the day, the sky was grey and ominous, but otherwise warm and comfortable. Miraculously we got through all of their first look, wedding party photos, ceremony, and even family photos before a rain drop fell. But on the walk from the ceremony location to the reception the rain started... and man, did it come down. The sky absolutely opened, and what happened next was a deluge of biblical proportions. Fortunately at this point all the guests and members of the wedding party were safely under tents, but I kept looking at Todd and Paige waiting for some sort of melt down or expression of disappointment. But guess what? There was none. Their concerns were only for the comfort of their guests, but after looking around and seeing smiles on everyone's faces, the couple seemed to fully embrace the rain with a 'Que Sera, Sera!' attitude that seems unique to folks here in the Kootenays. The couple and their guests didn't let the torrential downpour (which kept up for nearly 2 straight hours!) ruin their evening in the slightest. I absolutely love this about my Paige and Todd, and all of my Kootenay Couples. I truly believe that I get to work with the best clients in this corner of the world, and Paige and Todd's wedding only proved it to me again.
