I have so much to say about Kelly and Ryan's amazing Wasa Lake Wedding, yet somehow words feel insufficient. I suppose I will start at the beginning.
Kelly and Ryan hosted their beautiful, intimate wedding at Kelly's family's lake house in gorgeous Wasa, BC. Several generations of Kelly's family spent happy childhood summers with the sand between their toes on these very shores. In an act of bravery and a bit of sheer brilliance, this gorgeous couple decided to split their wedding day into two totally separate events. A early morning wedding lake-front ceremony for only their very immediate families, followed by a larger reception for friends and more extended family the next day. I have said before that I am always thrilled when couples shirk tradition and do their wedding day their own way, and when I found out that this was how Kelly and Ryan were going to split up the events, I wanted to high five them! Super intimate wedding ceremony, followed by fabulous party the next day when everyone is refreshed and rejuvenated? YES PLEASE! So we shot the ceremony and portraits on Day 1. And then I returned on the afternoon of Day 2 for the party. And what a party it was! Before dinner was served, guests drank, mingled, and played a variety of lawn games. Then we all moved to the lake-side part of the property for some enormous burgers with about 100,000 topping options provided by The Heid Out Restaurant & Brewhouse (cranbrook). After dinner, a few special guests were invited to share special words about the newly weds, and I don't think there was a dry eye on the house when Kelly spoke lovingly of her departed Dad. Before I left for the night, the couple shared a very romantic sparkler first dance together which was incredible sweet and memorable. The perfect ending to what was a perfect weekend. |
