You know how sometimes you meet people who have such an instant charisma that you feel an instant friendship with them and wish you could spend an entire day with them just hanging out and laughing, but then you remember that they're paying you thousands of dollars to preform a service so you'd better cut the shit and get back to work? That's Jaala and Steve.
I had the pleasure of meeting these two a couple summers ago when I photographed Steve's older sister's wedding. I was thrilled when Jaala reached out and asked if I was available to shoot their wedding as well. Originally the plan was for them to get married last summer, but well... Covid had other plans. After a year-long postponement and having to cut their 200+ guest list down to under 50, these two were finally able to say 'I do'. Their rustic wedding was held on the 160+ acre property that they own in Casino, BC. For the ceremony guests were shuttled a short distance up a dirt road to a beautiful clearing, and the reception was held a little closer to the house. While the pig roasted, guests were invited to nibble, drink, and play lawn games. The huge property allowed those in attendance to easily socially distance (a must in these pandemic times) while still celebrating and having tons of fun. Jaala and Steve only had me and my amazing second shooter (Larissa, from Photography by Larissa) for the Ceremony & Formals and first little bit of the reception. But I'll tell you, I was very tempted to crash the reception and just stick around as a guest to party with these two and their amazing guests. I sincerely hope that our paths cross again soon because I just cannot get enough of these two love birds. Congratulations to them!
