Oh boy, oh boy. What a treat this wedding was.
I have been dreaming of shooting at Nelson's *gorgeous* Blaylock Mansion since I moved to the Kootenays 4 years ago. Finally, this past Saturday I had my opportunity! And what a gorgeous wedding it was to introduce me to such a beautiful venue. I could not have asked for a more radiant bride, a more glowing groom, or a more stunning wedding party. What an event!
When the bride, Britney, was a little girl, she and her family used to come to Nelson to camp every summer. Britney says that they drove past the mansion many times during their camping visits, and every time Britney would look up at the gorgeous, historic building and dream of one day being married there. And so when the day came that she was planning her wedding with her dashingly handsome high school sweetheart, Brendan, the venue was a no-brainer. Nelson's Blaylock Mansion.
Blaylock was the perfect venue to match the couple's theme, as well-- 1920's 'Great Gatsby'. Guests were encouraged to embrace the theme and come dressed to impress. It was awesome to see so many of them done their swingingest beaded dresses, feathered head bands, hats, and suspenders. Britney and Brenden are from Calgary, and planned their wedding themselves from across the rockies. Despite the miles between them and their dream venue, no detail was over looked and the day went off without a hitch.
Special thanks to the incredible vendors who all pitched in to help this day be the smashing success that it was:
BellaFlora Floral Design for the bride's amazing bouquet
Aura Spa & Salon for Bridal Party hair & makeup
Hume Hotel for the delicious catering
Nicole Rita Tomney for the bride's stunning custom designed & handmade gown
and of course, Jesse Winkiewicz who assisted me and absolutely smashed it! Thanks Jesse!
