Engagements are absolutely one of my favourite things to shoot. They have all of the love & excitement of a wedding, with none of the stress, pressure, and hectic itineraries. It's just two people, in love, in a beautiful place, having some photos taken. Having the chance to work with my clients before their weddings is always such a treat-- we are able to form a friendship and trust that carries over to the all-important wedding day and translates into a better experience for everyone.
Gabrielle and Eric booked me via email from their home in Ontario. Gabby is from The Kootenays, Eric is from Ontario, but they met here while both attending a local college. After school they relocated together back to Eric's home province, but (fortunately for me!) are hosting their wedding here in our corner of the country. Because they booked me via email, I had not met them prior to yesterday's shoot.
It's always a bit nerve wracking going into a shoot with no idea what to expect from my clients. Will they be super adventurous, wanting to climb and get dirty? Will they be shy, and awkward, and need time to warm up with me and the camera? Will they be riddled with insecurities, perhaps due to a previous negative experience with a different photographer, and need constant direction and reassurance? You just never know what you're going to get!
Well, I certainly got lucky with Gabrielle and Eric. Adorable Gabby, in her perfect, fitted white dress hopped out of her vehicle and ran over to introduce herself to me before Eric had even fully parked the car. Her million dollar smile, and classic-hollywood glam looks told me straight away that this was going to be a great session. And I was so right. I had such a blast shooting & getting to know these two beautiful people & I am more excited than ever for their summer 2017 wedding (which will be held ON A MOUNTAIN TOP, which we will be accessing by a freaking helicopter! WHAAAAT!)
