With that, I wrap my 2016 wedding season, and I can't imagine a better note to end it on!
Brittany & Robin's Cranbrook, BC wedding was absolutely stunning. Held on the shores of Wasa Lake at Brittany's family's lake house, this wedding was rustic elegance at its finest. Just because your wedding is held in the backyard of a place you consider a second home, doesn't mean you have to sacrifice grace and class-- and Brittany and Robin reminded us of that throughout their entire day.
This event is also proof that you do not need a full year to put together a wonderful wedding! Brittany and Robin planned their big day in just three short months (thanks to the help of a few very exceptionally dedicated, & hard working family members). You absolutely never would have guessed it however, as no detail seemed to be over looked. From the absolutely stunning flowers, to the charming centre pieces, the delicious dinner, to the s'more station, bonfire, and fireworks this wedding wowed from start to finish in that laid-back, easy way that only "backyard" weddings seem to be able to.
Here's to backyard weddings! Here's to short engagements! Here's to Brittany and Robin! And here's to my fabulous 2016 season!
Rebecca and Matthew's gorgeous RedStone Golf Resort wedding made me fall in love with Autumn Weddings all over again. The colours, the mild temperatures, the moody skies, and even the little bit of rain- it all came together perfectly for their enormously atmospheric nuptials.
I'll admit-- when I initially saw the weather forecast for their wedding day, I was a bit bummed. But I ran out and tracked down some clear umbrellas, and decided that a bit of precipitation was not going to ruin our fun! And it didn't! Their crew of 4 bridesmaid and 4 groomsmen were smiling and laughing the entire day, and every guest in attendance was just so filled with love and support for these two beautiful people (and their fabulous dog Odin!) that the rain was a complete non-issue.
I had the honour of spending just a few hours with this beautiful couple on their big day, so we needed to make every minute count. They invited me along for their touching ceremony, and then a portrait session to follow. RedStone, as usual, did not disappoint and provided the perfect ( if not soggy) backdrop for our session. It just goes to show that you do not need 12 hours of wedding day coverage to get some great images.
Congratulations to this charming, hilarious, down to earth, and kick-ass couple. You two were such a pleasure to work with! May you continue to not be phased by a bit of rain, and find joy even under cloudy skies.
This wedding season has been pretty amazing, you guys. These Kootenay brides. These Kootenay venues. This Kootenay landscape. This Kootenay weather.... It's been such a great year for me, and Tyler & Raycene's rustic-glam riverside wedding was the icing on the cake.
With amazing vision and hard work, Tyler and Raycene took what is usually a pretty standard issue outdoor picnic area and transformed it into the stuff that wedding venue dreams are made of. Their glamorous, yet still rustic & cozy touches, permeated every corner of the Birchbank Picnic Grounds in a way that I couldn't have ever possibly imagined! No detail was over looked from the warm guestbook & welcome table- adorned with the wedding photos of their beloved grandparents- to the rustic centre pieces, and absolutely precious cake. Their nearly 200 guests sat amid countless strings of twinkling white lights, as they toasted the newly wed couple and celebrated their love.
While I was off with wedding party snapping photos, guests were treated to a cocktail hour of the century! With the bar wide open, folks were invited to partake in lawn games (bocce & corn hole, anyone?) & so much laughter.
Joining me at Tyler and Raycene's wedding was a small entourage of some of my most talented photographer friends. I am so grateful to Lexy Parks Photography, By Mari Photography, and Abbie Rose for lending their talent, time, and love to this event. I don't usually travel with a crew of +3.. but somehow the stars aligned just right and our creative forces were able to collide.. & the results? Well, I think the results are pretty darn awesome. But I'll let you be the judge of that. Enjoy!
